I am a counseling student in my final year of Columbia International University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling MA Program. I am also in the process of completing requirements of the South Carolina State Licensing Board and American Counseling Association. I am serving under Janalee B. Smith, NCC, LPCA, my site supervisor here at Crossroads Church, and so very grateful she has taken me under her wing to expand my site experience.
I have lived in the Columbia area for twenty-five years. I started graduate school in 2022, and chose a slow, steady pace in order to ensure that my children launched for college well. I have grown so very much during my time at CIU for the critical, component of faith integration in my studies was a constant reminder that my most important role on earth is as His daughter.
Presently, my foundational approach is person-centered, which means I work towards having the best understanding of a client’s life’s perspective: their thoughts, feelings, personal history, values, beliefs and behaviors in order to understand their unique experience, identify counseling goals, and work towards healing and growth. The level of faith integration in sessions is always dependent on the client’s expressed wishes. I look forward to helping Crossroads Clinical Counselor Residents with various forms of client care including co-therapy and individual counseling.
